Cefalù Italy

I had high expectations for Club Med Cefalù based on my previous experiences at Club Med Albion (Mauritius) and Seychelles, but unfortunately this stay was disappointing.

The positives first: the resort is absolutely beautiful, the location is breathtaking, and the food was excellent.

However, the resort had just opened for the season in April, and it felt unprepared. The activity schedule changed constantly, communication was poor, and several experiences fell short of what I expect from a premium Club Med resort.

The biggest disappointment was an excursion we booked through the resort. We specifically requested an English-speaking guided tour, but instead we were driven to a town, dropped off without a guide, and picked up three hours later. We paid €420 for what was essentially transportation, which felt very misleading.

Other disappointments included English-speaking guests joining tours conducted only in French, slow housekeeping service, closed water activities, limited entertainment, and a missed opportunity to acknowledge our friends' engagement despite two requests to reception.

On the positive side, Brigitte (Front Desk), Giovanni (Cocktail Bar), and Vincenzo (our airport driver) provided exceptional service and truly represented the hospitality we expected.

What disappointed me the most was not only the experience itself, but the complete lack of response after I took the time to share my feedback directly with Club Med. As a loyal Club Med guest, I expected my concerns to be acknowledged. Unfortunately, the silence was just as disappointing as the stay itself.s.

So much fun kayaking and paddle boarding. The team are so friendly and helpful. Matteo needs to practice his kayaking so he can win the next kayak race!! 😀

Cefalù is a beautiful site. The accommodation and facilities are excellent. The food is good - much variety and most of the staff are friendly and helpful.

As a 5 star resort you would expect the ‘little’ things to be fixed. I read on more than one previous review about the insects.

We had ants in our apartment. We had to ask reception to resolve this issue several times and in the end we were left to live with it. Groups of ants crawling on shoes, bedding, in the bathroom. We mentioned this to reception upon checkout and we were told ‘it’s nature.’ Families we met there were also experiencing the same.

Booking water sports is also haphazard. Sometimes you have to book beforehand, sometimes you turn up. There is no clear process and booking is not on the app. We were not the only families left disappointed that we couldn’t undertake the kayaking.

Wasps and flies were around the food (especially at the bar). There are other ways of keeping food protected.

Be prepared to walk (if you reside in the apartments near to the reception). It is a distance from there to the Beach Club or the Zen Pool and after requesting a mini car to take me there twice I gave up.
If you want a delightful resort - book it - but the little things matter and, for us, things could have been improved.
