Michès Playa Esmeralda Dominican Republic

First time in Club Med and it did not disappoint.
Planning was easy, all done through the CM website - flights, accommodation and transport to/ from resort
Resort was lovely - spread out over extensive grounds with lovely sandy beach. Regular pool, lap pool and kids pool
Extensive activities throughout the day with good evening entertainment
Food was delicious - lots of choice, always fresh. We mainly ate t the buffet but did enjoy bar b q at beach and Coco Plum restaurant on other days.
Room was spacious, bright and clean.
Staff were amazing, especially the GOs
Only negative was the beach bathroom, which seemed out of service frequently.

We stayed at Miches for a week, Sat - Sat. This club is located about a 90min drive from the Punta Cana Airport, which was actually pretty cool because it gave us a chance to see the DR countryside and communities along the route. I loved seeing that glimpse of life.

The rates they charge for the transport were actually very reasonable (at first we thought we’d take a taxi, but the hotel was charging market rates).

The Pros:

The check into the hotel was smooth and welcoming, we immediately felt comfortable and were shown to our room quickly. When we went to the club Med in Canada it took a while before our room was ready, so this was nice.

The location is beautiful! Clean, verdant. People online were complaining about bugs, but we didn’t notice them too much at all! I normally get eaten alive by mosquitoes, but hardly got a bite.

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We were always greeted with smiles, “hola!”, and fist bumps for my two boys.

I have to give two shoutouts especially: 1) to the staff at the kids club!! My boys are 1 and 4 and the people who work at the two clubs were incredible!!!! They were so kind, sweet, inviting and informative. We were told about what my 1yo ate, when he slept, what he did, etc. so helpful! They wanted us to participate in events with the boys and went out of their way to include everyone. I can’t sing their praises enough. Our boys LOVED these people. What a lucky hotel to have them. Plus, the events the hotel did were amazing (bouncy castles, candy treasure hunts, shows, and walks, plus more).

• the staff at the restaurant Cayuco. Everyone we met was so nice. They would greet my little 1yo with fist bumps and call him “amigo” and were so kind and gentle with him. They would help us with setting up our table with a high chair, give us extra napkins and other small helping gestures.

The managers of the hotel were everywhere, checking in on people. I got greeted by Jam a couple of times while staying there and she was so nice.

The Cons:
There was a lot of water damage at the hotel. Mold, holes, crumbling walls, water damage was everywhere. I know they’re in a tropical place, but I was shocked by the amount.

A lot of Doors didn’t close from the water damage, and there were times places smelled musty and mildewed.

Just Came back from the most amazing vacation. 2 weeks of beautiful relaxing time. Our first time at Miches and we loved it.Simon and Jam really made our stay special with all the really hard work they do.We absolutely loved the beautiful location. The food and drinks where exquisite. My wife really enjoyed the horse excursion and now has amazing memories for life. Every single employee we met was always courteous and helpful.the truly have an amazing team. We will definitely be back.

We had a lot of fun! Because of the best G.O Miguel. He is energetic, joyful and helpful young man. Enjoyed the facilities and the weather. They have world best G.Os. They are all energetic and helpful. The chief of G.O, Jamila made a best G.O team. Miches club med is the best!

Absolutely phenomenal! I could not image a better family vacation. The grounds were pristine, the staff was wonderful, the amenities were extensive, and the children's program was more than we could have every imagined. We loved the variety of things to do. The food and focus on health and well-being from facilities and meals was the best we have experienced. Above all, our children had an exceptional time. The kids club had engaging activities and the most remarkable staff. Ours grew very fond of Iaya and the others. They always greeted our children with smiles, hugs, and by name. As a parent, the joy and sparkle in our children's eyes was so heartwarming. This vacation will forever leave us with the most joyful memories.
