Cherating Beach Malaysia

Second visit to Club Med Cherating. Mini Med was awesome with fantastic G.O. that are so good with kids, and the activities are amazing. My kid was crying not to leave the G.O. Wafi and Daniel after 3 days of Mini Med.

The night entertainment was amazing too, the performance from Zul and Angela itself worth the ticket!

Our stay was largely enjoyable and filled with genuine highlights — but there are areas where a little more attention could elevate the experience from good to truly exceptional.

The chef and culinary team deserve real recognition. The Malaysian classics were executed with care and pride — the satay was tender and flavourful, and the Nasi Lemak hit every right note.

The bakery selection also impressed; breads and pastries looked and tasted freshly made. In a resort setting where buffet food can feel mass-produced, this team made it feel personal. Well done!

The activity programming is thoughtful, and the addition of batik colouring is a lovely cultural touch that makes the resort feel distinctly Malaysian. However, the batik room needs urgent attention — it is extremely hot and humid with very poor ventilation. An air-conditioning unit, or at minimum proper airflow, would make a significant difference.
As it stands, the discomfort detracts from what could be a truly memorable experience.

On the topic of teens: the accessibility of video game consoles may inadvertently pull younger guests away from guided activities. More structured, interest-led programming could draw teens in more effectively — compelling facilitation often does what passive screen time cannot.

The laundry facilities, on the other hand, are a practical and appreciated addition for guests on longer stay.

On certain days, the resort felt understaffed, and that gap was noticeable. Beyond the numbers, there were moments when the overall energy felt flat — and in a Club Med environment, where the team's enthusiasm is so central to the experience, this matters. That said, balance is key. Guests should feel energised by staff, not overwhelmed. The sweet spot — warm, present, and ready to engage without hovering — is worth pursuing thoughtfully.

Club Med Cherating offers a genuinely enjoyable holiday with standout food, a beautiful setting, and activities that mostly hit the mark. With attention to staffing energy, the batik room environment, teen programming, this resort has everything it needs to be truly exceptional. The foundations are strong — it's the finer details that will take it to the next level.

The rock climbing activity was the best and really love it. Chang and Lunker was very helpful in advising and teaching. Recommend them.
