From its perch at 1950 metres above sea level and facing south, the stone and wood clad Resort Club Med overlooks the entire Tarentaise valley. Built on the slopes, it dominates a bona fide resort, developed with consideration and affection by the inhabitants of Montvalezan. The Savoyard interior design tells the fabulous story of the mythical Petit St Bernard pass, from the crossing of the Alps by Hannibal with his elephants, to the pilgrims crossing the high mountain, to which the fresco in reception bears witness.

First family ski holiday - amazing
Just the nicest first family ski holiday for the kids and my wife. Everyone was brilliant, we had the best time. The mini club staff were so kind with our kids; Chloe, Juliette, Anna, Sam, Jordan and everyone else. Jessie in the ski tech department was great and so helpful. Vahap the GM is a lovely guy, as is M Lovely food, the ESF team were fab and thanks to Robin our ski instructor for being so kind and patient…plus being an amazing coach. Thanks so much guys.

Culte Med (Parte Deux)
I’ve definitely seen this film before. But it’s not like re-watching a feelgood classic film from the 80s but rather more like re-watching The Shining: it looks good, it’s well made, many of the cast are talented, but it really doesn’t make a whole lot of sense and it fills the audience with anxiety. I re-read my review of this ‘village’ (Second Rule of Cult Med: gotta use the cult lingo) from May 2023 and am happy and horrified in equal measure to report that the good bits remain unchanged and the nightmarish bits are still just as terrifying! Plus ça change…
For a supposedly upmarket Chinese-owned hotel, the main restaurant is a starkly downmarket experience, despite the veneer of quality. The mealtime scrum is truly nightmarish! And probably the best things you will eat or drink all week are still the 12 euro bowl of simple pasta and 5 euro hot chocolate or coffee from Bar du Lac or Offshore Bar (or literally anywhere, frankly) over in Italy on the La Thuile side. There are a few exceptions (like the ice cream) but generally I think people get carried away by the quantity and lose sight of the quality and execution.
There’s now just one white, one red and one rose in the restaurant and at the bar we found the drinks really basic and sloppily served (that is, if you could get served). The hotel might as well make it self-service at the bar too.
There must be many hundreds of people who work here as you see new characters swaggering around, looking really great and enjoying themselves each day, but none will ever ask how you’re finding your stay or if you need any help.
And one update that I forgot to mention last time. The loo roll is like a fine sandpaper (on dry contact), or a disintegrating cow’s tongue (on moist contact), creating clinkergeddon. It would be perfect for finishing off some school woodwork projects, or in pulp form as a sealant. But unless you’re looking for a full exfoliation of anything it touches, I’d suggest bringing your own.
On a serious note, I’d urge the hotel to reign in the drivers doing the airport transfers. I expect they are external contractors so the hotel will think ‘not our problem’. And I know they are under incredible pressure and working exhausting hours. But you simply cannot have guests put at risk because of drivers who push themselves and their vehicles to the absolute limit. I have now had two truly hair-raising journeys. Come on guys, there are already enough absolute world class idiots to deal with on the slopes, thanks.
So, in conclusion, it’s déjà vu all over again. As someone once said: ‘I think a lot of things happened right here in this hotel over the years, and not all of 'em was good’. So I’m not sure we were sensible to deux it again, but we might get sucked back in and trois at the right price.

My best Ski vacation
I'm so happy and excited to share with all of you one of the best vacations I’ve ever had.
First of all, I want to thank and appreciate the Exclusive Paradiso Team, who began their excellent service even before my arrival with helpful recommendations.
The warm welcome by Messuah set the tone for an amazing stay. Throughout our vacation, the entire team—including Helia (Space Manager EC), Messuah, Eloise, and Pauline—worked hard to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. They were always available to answer our questions and assist us with anything we needed.
Our room was extremely spacious, clean, fully equipped, quiet, and very comfortable. The room service was excellent, especially thanks to Mr. Hassan, who took great care of us.
I must also mention the outstanding service we received from the General Manager, Mr. Samuel Oliviera. He was incredibly professional, patient, and gentlemanly throughout our stay.
The food was absolutely delicious, of high quality, and offered a wide variety of choices. We especially appreciated that the Chef took my cousin’s gluten allergy into consideration and provided suitable options.
The lobby is huge and beautifully designed, and there were amazing activities for both kids and adults. The staff was always friendly, smiling, and happy to help and serve the guests.
I also can’t leave out the excellent and very professional service from the ski instructor, Mr. Victor from the ESF Ski School. He was truly amazing—his unique teaching style, patience, and ability to give attention to every skier made learning fun and effective. He was so kind and encouraging, and I will definitely book private lessons with him next year for myself and my family.
In summary, I highly recommend Club Med La Rosière to my family and friends. I will definitely be booking the Exclusive Paradiso experience again, along with lessons from Mr. Victor, the incredible ski instructor.
A huge thank you to Mr. Samuel Oliviera, Helia, and the rest of the Exclusive Paradiso Team for hosting us during this unforgettable ski vacation. I’m already excited and looking forward to repeating this amazing experience next year!
