Cancún Mexico

Club Med has by far the most beautiful beaches in Cancun. The resort is an oasis with many unobstructed views and quiet areas among a barrage of hideous towering hotels. The grounds are gorgeous, the staff is very kind, the environment is above-beyond child friendly, the variety of activities are stellar and my family had a fantastic holiday.

However, with the exception of the reservation-only evening restaurants the food is sub-par and hard to stomach for more than a couple days. It should be noted that evening service at Taco Arte is exceptional. The staff are accommodating and more importantly the food is delicious.

But far worse is the quality of the rooms for those with allergies. If not paying a premium for rooms in the newer buildings or exclusive collection - the ground floor rooms on the lagoon are choking with mold and mildew.the climate CANNOT be blamed for this issue - the sun is plentiful and a good airing out should ameliorate. And yet it does not. I have backpacked across mexico and the Yucatán staying at numerous hostels and < 1 star accommodations. I have NEVER encountered a lodging so hostile to the allergy prone. This is a club med specific problem and I can’t understand how it continues to be so atrocious.

After flagging allergies, I was given a de-humidifier. I needed to get up every few hours all night long to empty the water bucket that filled up triggering the machine to turn off. All night every night. I spoke to 3 separate front desk staff ( all very kind and seemingly flustered GMs) who all promised a swift response to a logged request to move to a higher floor and off the ground floor ( the original reservation was for a higher floor). All said that I would soon would be texted via whats app. Days passed. No text ever came and I gave up. And I started plotting whether my family could string up sleeping hammocks in the beach to escape the mildew.

So I am torn. We will probably be back: my family loved the experience. And next time we will probably pay the premium to ensure lodging a newer building on a higher floor with better ventilation. However superior food ( not including the amazing taco Arte) and accommodations can easily be found on a shoe string budget locally.

I would rate 5 out of 5 but there were days when dining experience was not up to standard … such as the sea bass being super dry on Christmas dinner. However I would still give food passing grade for being all inclusive … nice freshly prepared juice for breakfast. Good daily fruit and salad options - breakfast sausages and bacon were poor. Some good highlights … Francesco in dining did try his best to make experience positive and organized sit down dining at estancia which was overall good. Orlando in coffee area was super amable with lattes and always had smile . Creperie snack restaurant is overall terrible - for this level of resort snacks should be of better variety and much better quality - big let down! At water activities … the team were super great at making our whole experience their fantastic … special thanks to max Paulo and odobo- I would also like to mention that GM Jose does his best to engage with guest to ensure best overall experience … he is great host.

Great experience for family of 10 with children of varying ages. Particularly appreciated the family suite option in accommodations with separate room for children. Even though crowded during Xmas week there was plenty of room for activities.

Our family just returned from Club Med Cancún, and we are already talking about when we can go back. From the moment we arrived, the energy of the G.O.’s set the tone—warm, fun, and absolutely contagious. They’re the heartbeat of the resort, bringing incredible positivity from sunrise to late-night shows. It never once felt forced; it felt like being welcomed into a family that genuinely loves what they do.

The atmosphere throughout the resort is electric but balanced perfectly with relaxation. The music everywhere is spot on—upbeat by the pool, chill when you want to unwind, and always enhancing the experience rather than overwhelming it. It’s the kind of soundtrack that just makes you happy to be there.

For families, this place is perfection. Safe, easy to navigate, plenty of activities, and just the right blend of kids’ fun and adult indulgence. Whether we were at the beach, trying activities, or just soaking up the sun, we always felt well taken care of and completely at ease.

A special shoutout to Taco Arte, which quickly became our favorite spot. The food is fresh, flavorful, and authentically vibrant, but what truly made it memorable was our waiter Raphael. Raphael was phenomenal—warm, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic about making every meal special. His service elevated the experience from great to outstanding, and our family will be talking about him for a long time!
